Black Redstart
A beautiful little bird that has had quite some adventures with it’s name and family. It was first part of the Thrush family, now a part of Old World Flycatchers. Then it’s old name blackstart was given to a different bird. For me, in Austria, it’s a delightful summer visitor. Found in the mornings and evenings singing away and darting around catching insects from top branches of trees, rooftops and any other high prominent perch. Typical flycatcher behaviour.
