African swamphen

This was a magical sighting. While we drove that same track every day of our stay, it was only on the last day when we saw this flock. Grazing in small brackish water pools along the road. In the clear bright light, they showed off their beautiful purple, green, and pale blue coloration to its best!

Scientific Name: Porphyrio madagascariensis
Conservation Status: Least Concern though numbers are decreasing
