Australian golden whistler
Also known as golden whistler, it is found in forest, woodland, mallee, mangrove and scrub in Australia. It is difficult bird for the scientists to classify, with some including as many as 59 subspecies (one of the highest numbers of subspecies in any bird), while others treat several of these as separate species. I am delighted I saw both male and female Australian Golden Whistlers in my short 1 day outing in Melbourne!
