Early morning come the ‘Meisen’*
Great and Blue,
some Long-tailed too.
Then come the Sparrows in big groups
Upto 20 on our little balcony.
Fighting, pushing.
A shove or make it two
The Doves, they don't care.
Sitting togther, a pretty pair.
Comfortable and to the task of eating
Of they go, when they are full.
Blackbirds come too,
now that it's winter.
Chasing the sparrows away
as long as they stay.
Our Woodpeckers have all disappeared
Great Spotted they were, all three
I hear them call from trees below
But visiting us, they come no more.
And the Robin?
The pretty Robin, he comes alone
Late in the evening,
a quick check that no other takes his territory.
That’s my day from morn to dusk
Busy, happy, with the birds.
Goodnight folks
Till tomorrow comes,
another day.
