Black Flowerpiercer
‘Niky! I did get it!’ my excitement after having spent long as the bird proved difficult to photograph. Hiding in the bushes, flying off fast. Niky is our wonderful guide and expert on all things Colombian from Birds Colombia Experience. They also run Guardian de las Aves (have a look it’s admirable what they do)
Anyway back to the bird, the Black Flowerpiercer is a fairly small, entirely black bird with the typical flowerpiercer bill (uniquely upswept with a hooked tip) found in the Andes from Venezuela to Peru. .
