Altai falcon

The Altai falcon breeds in a relatively small area of Central Asia across the Altai and Sayan Mountains. Since centuries it has been a favoured bird among Eagle Hunters, for training young children into the traditional life-skill. That’s how I came across this beautiful, graceful raptor as well. While my opinion remains undecided on the ancient practise, there is no doubt on the fact that it’s a very beautiful bird.

Altai Falcons are a special colour morph (variation) of the Saker Falcon that lives across a larger geographical area.
