Tales from Spain

Iberian lynx

It was hot. It was dry.
We were sitting in a tiny hide,
behind a tiny waterhole.
Waiting for the Iberian Lynx.

Only some 2000 remain.
A figure that speaks of considerable conservation success. Populations had dropped to just 94 individuals in two isolated groups in Andalusia in 2002.

While we waited, the birds came.
Thirsty for some water, longing for a bath...

The landscape with it’s large stretches of olive plantations making geometric patterns over the rolling hillsides. The light, bright and strong and clear.
The dry heat. The vegetation golden and dry. The animals and the birds.

I loved this part of Spain.
