It was hot. It was dry. We were sitting in a tiny hide, behind a tiny waterhole. Waiting for the Iberian Lynx.

While we waited, the birds came…

From my first ‘kolibri’ in California, the full-of attitude Anna’s Hummingbird, to the beauties of Brazil and Colombia. Each one has been uniquely special. Each one impossible to stop photographing. This selection of photographs has been long in coming because it was just so difficult to choose which photographs were ‘the best’!

From the far end of the World, a world of astonishing beauty…and some astonishing birds!

As winter closed in on my home in Europe, this year, much like my beloved birds, I found myself flying down down down, way down south to the lands down under. A few days in Melbourne. The city, vibrant and charming inspite of the grey skies.

This is a story of the Cranes and other birds spotted over a lovely weekend at Hortobágyi Nemzeti Park.
